How Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough's councils license dog boarders

Fifteen dog day cares, boarding kennels and home boarders are listed across Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough and the surrounding towns, and they answer to two different councils, both of which run their own register with a star rating.

North Northamptonshire Council: a live register, checked directly

North Northamptonshire Council runs its own online licensing search, and gives a licence number, expiry date and star rating for each of the nine businesses matched to it here, from Four Seasons Boarding Kennels & Cattery and Highlands Country Kennels and Cattery on 3 stars up to six businesses on the council's top score of 5 stars. One of the nine, Wooden House Kennels, trades from an address on the Leicestershire side of the county boundary near Market Harborough, but its licence is still held with North Northamptonshire Council rather than Harborough District Council, so it is shown under that authority here.

Harborough District Council: its own PDF, dated July 2025

Harborough District Council publishes its own PDF register of animal-activity licences, last dated 25 July 2025 when this page was checked, and it also gives a star rating for each business matched to it: The Dog Club on 4 stars, and Barking Mad Market Harborough, Out and About Dog Walking and Paws 4 Walking all on 5 stars.

Two licence claims that could not be matched

Country Companions Pet Services states on its own site that it is licensed by the former East Northamptonshire District Council, which no longer exists as a separate authority, and its claim could not be matched to North Northamptonshire Council's current register. Porter's Paw Patrol states a Harborough District Council licence number on its own site, but that number does not appear in the council's own downloaded register. Neither business's licence is shown here as a result; ask each one directly to confirm its current licence and number.

What that means for you

Thirteen of the fifteen businesses here have a licence confirmed directly against a council's own register, including a star rating from a genuine government inspection in every one of those thirteen cases. The two that could not be matched may well be licensed, since a licence is required by law, but this directory could not confirm it from a public source; ask to see the current certificate when you call, and contact the relevant council directly if a star rating matters to your decision.
