None of the four councils' own websites offer a directly usable public register for this niche: Manchester City Council's site blocks scripted access to its public-registers page, and Stockport Council's own animal-licensing page carries guidance only, no searchable list. All four councils' licences were instead read from a single third-party platform, animal-licensing.uk, which mirrors each council's register under its own authority page. This is a mirror of the council's data, not the council's own published page, so treat it as a step removed from the primary source rather than as the council speaking directly.
Why there's no star rating here
Some councils on this platform publish a star inspection score for each licence and some don't; none of the entries found for Manchester's four mirrored councils carried a star score during this research. This site only shows a council star rating where the register itself provides one, so no Manchester listing shows one — that is a gap in what the register publishes, not a mark against any business. Several Manchester businesses state their own star rating or licence number on their own website; a rating a business quotes about itself is not the same as one confirmed by a council register, so it is not repeated on this site.

Two things worth asking about
Dogz Club Ltd and The Bark Yard are licensed separately at the same Heaton Lane address in Stockport; it isn't established from the register whether this is a rebrand or a shared building, so ask either business directly if it matters to you. The Classy Collar's own site also gives a different street to the one shown on Manchester City Council's register for its Wythenshawe listing; this site follows the council's register address, but it's worth confirming the current one when you call.
What this means for booking
Whichever business you're considering, ask to see the current licence certificate itself, along with the council that issued it and when it's due for renewal, rather than relying on a number or a star rating quoted on a website. A licence being current is the one thing this directory cannot confirm in real time; the register is checked periodically, not on the day you call.
