Overnight boarding
Three businesses here publish an overnight or per-day figure, and they are not directly comparable: Amy's Pet Retreat charges £25 per dog per night for a kennel with its own outdoor run, Blackbrook Kennels charges £20.75 a day for a small dog and £24.65 for a large dog at its Dedham kennels (plus £3.50 a day for heating), while We Love Pets Colchester charges £55.50 per 24 hours for home boarding, where your dog lives in the boarder's house rather than a kennel block. Ask exactly what each price includes, and how the first and last day of a stay are counted, before comparing them.
Day care
Dogs Play Centre has the fullest published day-care price list: £34 for one dog for a full day, £24 for a half day, and a lower rate per dog for a second dog from the same household (£54 full day, £38 half day for two). A new dog has to do a paid assessment (£9) or a longer four-hour trial (£18.50) before its first full booking. Muttley & Mabel, a day care on Severalls Business Park, charges £22 for a half day and £31.50 for a full day.

Two of the home boarders also publish separate dog-walking prices: Kickstart My Bark charges £8 for a half-hour walk and £11 for an hour, while We Love Pets Colchester charges £20.50 an hour and £14 for a 20-minute visit. Neither of these is a boarding price, but they show what a stand-alone walk costs from businesses that also board dogs.
